The Hives Are Coming Back With the Power Power

The Hives have a new album coming out at the beginning of October called The Black and White Album, which is a pretty great thing to call an album. This is the album cover. I love it. I am very excited.

Summer 2008 Is Really Too Far Away (About a Year)

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
could be better than The Dark Knight, but probably not. But it might be the more interesting film.

Maybe it'll be better than Iron Man.

Don't know about that, either.

Criterion Does Hitchcock (Again)

Double-disc set baby, out in November, awww yeah.

Pyramid Power

A week ago was probably the last time I'll ever see the adorable mandroids of Daft Punk and their amazing technicolor disco pyramid. Then again, they made an awful lot of money from this tour - maybe they aren't done with dramatizing the epic battle of man vs. machine vs. Kanye West juuuuuuuuuust yet...

The next tour will probably look something like this, anyway:

Links to the Past

Periodically I'm employed by the Fairfield County Weekly. They tend to publish things I write. These are links to two of those "things."

An article about the hippie-fest that is Gathering of the Vibes (in our very own Bridgeport, Connecticut), comparing it to the hipster-fest that is Lollapalooza, which I attended in Chicago (see blurry photos below). Here.

Also, I read Harry Potter and got all emotional about it (no homo). Here.

Hope you enjoy. And if you don't, just lie to me about them if we ever bump into each other on the street.

Decisions Decisions

Tonight was a big night for outdoor concerts (which was especially frightening given the high possibility of rain) -- Mike was grooving to the Black Crowes show in Central Park, Jordan was shaking his rump at the McCarren pool Beastie Boys show and I was...

Kind of obvious, I guess. More later.

Criterion Befuddles Me Once More [UPDATED]

This is from the Criterion newsletter. And I am so awful at their "hints" I thought I'd put it up to see if anyone understands it. Adrian?

UPDATE: Thanks to Film Ick (and a text message with Max), it looks like it's Ernst Lubitsch's The Love Parade.

On my must-do Criterion list: David Cronenberg's M. Butterfly (they've got a big-ass special edition of Crash in the works for later this year), David Fincher's The Game, and Fred Dekker's Night of the Creeps (especially in light of the amazing new Monster Squad DVD). What about you guys? What are you dying to see Criterion do (or to have a DVD reissue of a laserdisc)?

Lollapalooza in Poorly Taken Photographs

This is what it looks like when you don't have a photo pass.

Brief Lollapalooza Recap

The Rapture: Amazing
Silverchair: Amazing
M.I.A.: Amazing
Amy Winehouse: Amazing
Snow Patrol: Amazing
The Black Keys: Amazing
LCD Soundsystem: Amazing
Spoon: Amazing
Daft Punk: AMAZING.

More to follow.

Still Trapped...

... still genius. Why am I more excited about this than I am about Graduation? Okay, I'm not that excited, but it will be fudging hilarious.
